USMNT Finally Fires Gregg Berhalter After Disastrous Copa América, And Now It’s Time To Gear Up For World Cup Glory

So now I feel a lot more secure about the 2026 World Cup. We just need to hire the right people.

The United States Men's National Team (USMNT) soccer team has finally (and spectacularly) decided to fire head coach Gregg Berhalter, effective immediately, the U.S. Soccer Federation made the official announcement on Wednesday night. Berhalter's firing comes after the U.S. national team suffered a disastrous defeat in the 2024 Copa America and failed to qualify. Group Stage After losses to Panama and Uruguay, this humiliation came while the US was hosting the tournament on home soil. Totally unacceptable!

It was the first time in five Copa appearances that the U.S. national team had failed to advance past the group stage, and even worse, it was the first time in history that U.S. Soccer had been eliminated from the group stage at a World Cup, Copa America or Gold Cup tournament held in the United States.

And lo and behold, the USMNT removed Berhalter from their website! I had to make a little clip to celebrate.

We will discuss the nominees at a later date. Tonight is the party!
