The husband of the Flagstaff woman whose body was discovered last week is scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 10.
Daniel Padukowski pleaded guilty to second-degree murder. He is expected to receive a 16-year sentence.
Police discovered the body of Kelly Padukowski, 45, around 10 a.m. on July 5, but did not disclose where the body was found or who discovered it, citing an ongoing investigation.
At a press conference last week, Coconino County Attorney Michael Tunink said the victim's husband, Daniel Padukowski, agreed to plead guilty to second-degree murder, evidence tampering, attempted concealment of a body and possession of a controlled substance.
Police said Flagstaff police arrested the victim's husband, Daniel Padukowski, on Tuesday after authorities spoke with family members and witnesses and reviewed evidence.
Kelly Padukowski was arrested after data from her phone showed the device was in the Schultz Creek Trail area around 10:20 a.m. on June 3, while Daniel Padukowski was seen in the same area around 11:30 a.m., police said.
The device returned to the couple's home in Coconino Estates at about 12:13 p.m., police said. Kelly Padukowski's white Mazda CX-5 and Daniel Padukowski were last seen at the Campbell Mesa Trailhead around 1:30 p.m., police said.
Tunnink said Padukowski was cooperative during questioning and led police to Kelly's body, his cellphone, his keys and the weapon allegedly used in the murder. Tunnink added that under the agreement with Padukowski, which must be approved by a judge, he must serve the full 16-year sentence.
Police say Padukowski made false statements and attempted to mislead investigators during the search for his wife's body.
Police said drones, mountain bike patrols, search dogs and more than 60 volunteer search teams were used to locate Kelly. Witnesses, many of whom were in Kelly's neighborhood, provided crucial information and testimony in the investigation of suspect Daniel Padukowski, police said.
