Disney has announced that it will close its Walt Disney World resort in Orlando after alleging that the animatronics there were being disrespectful to drinkers.
The Magic Kingdom's Country Bear Jamboree has replaced its animatronic bear character with a different one over concerns that the 50-year-old character's presence could be deemed “offensive” by the park's alcoholics. NJ.com report.
The animatronic known as “River Lips McGrowl” will be in permanent hibernation, and when the attraction reopened after renovations and renovations on Wednesday, the character's original appearance was nowhere to be found.

The removal of “River Lips” is part of a broader initiative by the Walt Disney Co. to “address and correct outdated or culturally insensitive elements within our attractions,” according to NJ.com, an official Disney blog. Inside the Magic.

“The term 'river lips' is considered derogatory and offensive because it brings to mind excessive alcohol consumption and the liver damage that comes with it,” Dunn explained.
The author called the phrase in question “insensitive and outdated,” and offered some insight into Disney's decision to abandon the character and replace it with another.
Now, instead of Riverlips, park visitors can find “Romeo McGrawl,” dressed similarly but with a different hairstyle. according to Visit the Disney Parks Blog. (Related: Disney May Be Ruining One of TV's Greatest Shows Ever)
“While the characters' appearances have remained largely unchanged, the name changes reflect Disney's commitment to creating a more inclusive and respectful environment for our guests,” Disney author Dan assured readers.

Country Bear Jamboree is located in the Frontierland section of the Magic Kingdom. The attraction first opened in 1971 when the Magic Kingdom opened to the world.
