Democrats are scrambling to crush President Joe Biden. What a bunch of rednecks.
Biden leads the Democratic Party Election CliffBut this was foreseen among Democratic leaders a year ago, as they tried to fool and bluff the American people until November, and realized Biden was seriously declining. Aging is inevitable. It's not a character flaw, but it's a one-way street. (Related article: Joey Mannarino: Democrats are hitting a wall)
Earlier this year, Democratic leaders Already knew Biden I can't stand the harsh political campaignsSome people respectfully and gently urged him, privately and publicly, to pass the baton. He refused, and Democrats ultimately made their fatal mistake: They hesitated.
Instead, they pinned their hopes on legal battles against Donald Trump, but lawsuit after lawsuit failed. Even when Trump suffered small losses, the political persecution was so obvious that the losses turned into wins. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, right? Trump Became stronger.
When Biden resisted, what else could Democratic leaders have done? As is being done now, congressional leaders should have told Joe Biden privately, and publicly if necessary, that he had to step down.
If he still resisted, Democratic leaders, including former President Barack Obama, should have taken tougher action, urging major Democratic donors to put away their checkbooks.
No Biden campaign funds. No Biden campaign. Biden is stubborn, but even he couldn't resist this message.
The Democratic Party establishment knew what to do, pushed gently and, when faced with resistance, meekly retreated into the shadows.
With Biden's debate performance, the drama was over. The fraud was over, the ruse failed. Still, stubborn Joe Refusal to go.
If Biden had admitted the truth and ended his campaign quickly, the Democratic Party might have been able to regroup, rally under a new banner, and effectively counter the Trump campaign.
There were scattered calls for Biden to withdraw, but none of it was significant.
Now, after the assassination attempt on Trump and the subsequent reaction, and the amazing Republican Convention, it is too late and Democrats are stepping up the pressure on Biden. Panic. Schumer is the name. Pelosi And Jeffries. This is nonsense.
Biden will lose badly to Trump. As AOC acknowledges,If Biden withdraws, his successor will suffer an even worse defeat. It's too late now. They and any other candidates being floated as potential replacements know this. It's better to support Biden, take the pain and move on.
So what about the alternatives called for to make the 2024 version of Pickett's challenge? The most obvious justification for accepting the challenge is arrogance. It might tempt California Governor Gavin Newsom or Vice President Kamala Harris.
Or maybe some people pray for a miracle, but after Trump narrowly survived an assassination attempt, it's doubtful anyone is religious enough to believe in miracles.
What about for the sake of order, in the belief that a credible Biden successor might have an advantage in the House elections? Such selflessness is rare among modern Democrats, but we'll see how it goes.
One rationale justifies the trouble: The Democratic Party is doomed to soul-searching and being thrown into the wilderness, and Biden's replacement would not only gain valuable experience in a national campaign, but would also enjoy a major boost in name recognition.
Experience and name recognition would give the 2024 victim candidate a huge advantage in future elections, but before going too far down this road, Democrats must first overcome their timidity, because in the Trump-Vance era, chains and knives are always going to be slashed at dusk.
