Texas Tech Softball Pays A Whopping $1.2 Million For Transfer NiJaree Canady, Proving NIL Has Truly Changed The Game

But here's why it's crazy. On 3Her contract includes a clause that would see her paid. Canady signed a non-immigrant contract with a third-party organization, the Matador Club, which would pay her a whopping $1.2 million.

Last season, Canady was named National Softball Player of the Year and then decided to enter the transfer portal on the final day of the transfer period, June 17. Canady is considered one of the best pitchers in college softball, and her numbers for the 2024 season back that up with 337 strikeouts and a 0.73 ERA.

And here's another fact that makes the numbers even more turbulent.
