Appointment Made to Mayer Unified School District Board

Yavapai County School Superintendent Tim Carter is pleased to announce the appointment of Michele McCann to the Mayer Unified School District Board of Governors.

The vacancy was due to the resignation of longtime board member and president Mark Mathern, who is resigning after 26 years with the school district due to health problems. We are very grateful for the service we have provided to our residents. Over a quarter century of gratuitous service to the community.

Mrs. McCann was one of two qualified candidates who expressed interest in seeking the post by submitting a letter of interest and a resume. , spoke with the majority of the board and administration to hear their views on the candidate. He also received some comments from community members about people seeking the position.

Mrs. McCann grew up in Wyoming and attended Black Hills State University. She then transferred to Grand She Canyon College, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology two courses later. She is married and the couple has lived in this district for her eight years. They have three daughters of hers, one she graduated from Mayer High School and is now in middle school and freshman. She worked as a Special Education Assistant Professional in a school district before becoming her clinical case manager for her CareLock LLC in Cordes Junction.

This appointment will take effect on January 9, 2023 and expire on December 31, 2024. If McCann wishes to remain on the board for his entire term beginning in 2025, he will have to stand for election in the 2024 election cycle.
