President Joe Biden appeared a little shaken up as he spoke from the Oval Office on Wednesday night.
Still recovering from COVID-19 and his shocking (for him) withdrawal from the campaign trail, Biden's attitude was understandable. American voters will soon have a similar look on their face when they learn about San Francisco's new socialist option.
Certainly, Vice President Kamala Harris has a lot of potential as a presidential candidate, and her second attempt at becoming the first female president of the United States should be inspiring to those who care about such things, and they hope that Hillary Clinton's shortfall doesn't bode well for Harris.
She brought an energy to the campaign that had been sorely lacking until now.
Harris is somewhat of a newcomer on the national stage: As a senator, she has made little impression other than moving further to the left of Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., according to Gabtrack. GovTrack revoked the rating a few days ago.She made little impression during her tenure. The presidential election was unsuccessful 2020. As Biden's replacement, Harris was again little more than a string of words and made little impression.
That means few voters know much about her. And therein lies the shock: it's time for the full picture of Kamala.
Harris has made some odd decisions as she tries to define herself to voters. She has been Biden's vice president, a senator and even a California Attorney GeneralNo, she goes four steps further down on her resume to highlight her service as district attorney for San Francisco. There are currently more than 30,000 district attorneys in the United States. District attorneys are important, but there is nothing special about the district attorney of San Francisco.
Voters may be puzzled by Harris' boasting about being a far-left district attorney, but wait until you learn that she is in fact a San Francisco socialist. Her extreme positions are well-documented in her public statements, Recent Advertisement for Pennsylvania Republican Senate candidate Dave McCormick.
Love private health insurance? Too bad. Harris will take that away from you and force you onto a government-run plan. The model under which it is usually delivered, the UK National Health System (NHS), was once the jewel in the crown of the UK government. Today it is a disaster. present Huge losses and long wait times for something as trivial as cancer treatment; or try Canada’s national health insurance system shines in comparison to the NHS.
Maybe you live in a cold climate and have decided that it will be a long time before electric vehicles (EVs) are ready for primetime use. You need a conventional car or truck. Too bad. Harris will force you to buy an EV. Do you know how much range you get in a pickup truck with the heater on and a trailer in the winter? Not really. The liberal elites don't care, but real people who work to make a living do.
Is energy security important to you? Sorry. She's going to ban fracking and other investments related to the discovery and development of fossil fuels. Are you listening, Pennsylvanians?
Will taxes go up? Of course. After all, it's government money, and Harris thinks it's charitable to leave some of that money in the hands of the people.
Republicans can't boast about reining in federal spending, but the official motto of a Harris administration will likely be “more is better.”
What about regulation? The Biden-Harris team has been incredibly good at pushing through new regulations, and the Harris administration will take it to the next level, taking the lessons learned from that.
And what's really interesting is that the Harris campaign beginning Election ad. Key words: “We choose freedom.” Oh, not for you. For her and the administrative state. You can't help but laugh. But if voters fully understand Harris, they won't laugh. They'll act like Biden.
J.D. Foster, a former chief economist for the Office of Management and Budget and former chief economist and senior vice president for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, now lives a life of relative freedom in the hills of Idaho.
