Former Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy said on Fox News on Thursday that Democratic lawmakers from Vice President Kamala Harris' home state had privately spoken about her during her time as a senator.
Appearing on “Jesse Watters Primetime” to discuss the Democratic Party's support for Harris as a potential new presidential candidate, McCarthy told Fox News host Jesse Watters that he had been told by Democratic House members that not only “they didn't like her” when Harris was a California Democrat senator, “she didn't work with them.” Radical anti-fracking activists back Kamala Harris' campaign
“When I was talking to the Democrats in California, they said they didn't like her and that she wouldn't work with them because she's their senator,” McCarthy continued. “I said, 'Would you work with your senator?' [They said,] “'She's not working with me,' Feinstein used to say. But she wasn't working with them either.”
“The White House didn't seem interested in what she would say or what position she would take. Even on the Fourth of July, she was only invited onto Truman's balcony this year. [President Joe Biden] “We were trying to back out,” McCarthy said.

McCarthy further emphasized why he believes Harris is “very popular” at the moment, referencing the 1988 presidential election between former President Georgia W. Bush and Democratic presidential nominee Mike Dukakis.
“The reason she's popular now is because Biden was so unpopular. They're so grateful he's gone. I wish they'd just have a minute to talk to her. This is a lot like 1988,” McCarthy continued.
“Dukakis had a 17-point lead in mid-July. Then we found out he was soft on crime and let Willie Horton go. Wait until you see her,” McCarthy said. “She's a prosecutor for Soros and even worse. Then we look at Dukakis and that hard hat and we find out he's unfit to be president. Think about the decisions she'll make along the way.”
The vice president received a wave of support online from fellow lawmakers, donors and other politicians after Biden dropped out of the 2024 presidential race and endorsed Harris as his party's nominee.
But despite the party's enthusiasm, Reuters/Ipsos carried out According to the data, the poll, conducted July 26-28, showed that of 1,025 Americans surveyed, 48% were dissatisfied with the way Harris is handling her duties in the White House, while 39% approved and 13% refused to answer.
