A New York man was caught on video attacking his father with a wrench after hitting him with his car on Monday, the New York Post reported.
Wang Yu, 30, is alleged to have attacked his father with an SUV and a metal wrench, leaving the victim in critical condition. According to Authorities reported that Wang first struck the 56-year-old father multiple times with a Toyota RAV4. Witnesses, horrified by the scene, then saw Wang retrieve a metal wrench from the car and repeatedly strike the father, who was already injured and lying on the sidewalk.

Police responded to the scene and found the victim with severe injuries to his head and body. He was immediately taken to Presbyterian Hospital, where he remains in life-threatening condition, the media outlet reported. After the attack, the son allegedly fled the scene in an SUV. However, police detained the suspect the following day. At the time of his arrest, the suspect was reportedly carrying a crack pipe and a bag containing residue, and tests are currently being conducted to identify the contents. According to the New York Post, Wang is facing charges including attempted manslaughter, two counts of assault, dangerous driving and illegal use of drug paraphernalia. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the motive and full details of the incident.
