Authorities in New York have reportedly charged a 22-year-old man with hate crimes after he allegedly stabbed a Jewish man while shouting pro-Palestinian slogans on Saturday.
Vincent Sumpter allegedly shouted “Liberate Palestine” and “Do you want to die?” before stabbing his Jewish victim near an ultra-Orthodox Jewish headquarters. Chabad Lubavitch Brooklyn Movement, According to Police also charged Sumpter with eight felony counts and six hate crime counts in connection with the incident, Jewish Week reported, citing an arrest report.

The stabbing victim, Yehiel Dabrowskin, said: said According to Israeli media, Dabrowskin was in the middle of a Shabbat event when he was informed that someone outside was threatening children. “I told him to leave,” Dabrowskin said, recalling the man pointing a “pocket knife” at him.

Bearman added on Twitter that the suspect was detained by the community “until police arrived and made an arrest.”

An online fundraiser for Dabrowskin has raised more than $20,000 since the attack, according to Jewish Week.
