Republican Rep. Byron Donald of Florida fired back at CNN host Kate Bolduin, who asked him about Republican candidate Donald Trump's age on her show Wednesday.
Bolduan repeatedly pressed Donald on whether Trump's age, 78, was a concern for Republicans since President Joe Biden, 81, dropped out of the race on July 21. Donald argued that Harris' policy record during her time as a senator and vice president is the real concern in the 2024 presidential race.
“If you look at Kamala Harris' first 24 days, you'll see that she's not answering questions, she's not talking to your network or any other network,” Donald began, before Bolduan countered that Donald's answer had nothing to do with the question about Trump's age. “She doesn't have a specific policy. No, she doesn't. But it does relate. Let me explain. If she's not answering questions, these are hard questions about her record and what she's going to do, not chatter about joy and progress and freedom. We're talking about real political issues and policy issues that affect the American people. She's nowhere to be found.”
“But do you think when she gives interviews and states her policies, people are going to think she's too old to be president? That's the idea I'm trying to play here,” Bolduin asked.

Donald argued that Harris's “competence and ability” to lead the United States and implement effective policy were being called into question.
“No, it's not about her age. It's about her ability and her ability to lead this country going forward. What will her economic policies be? Will they be different than Joe Biden's? I don't think so,” he said. (Related article: Fox News political analyst Harris Faulkner spars with Democrats who justified Harris' lack of proposals)
Donald noted that Harris has tended to shift positions on key policy issues throughout her political career. As a senator, she co-sponsored the Green New Deal in 2019 and supported eliminating the Senate filibuster to pass legislation. Additionally, the vice president co-signed Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders' Medicare for All bill in the Senate, but is now trying to present herself as a moderate candidate, he said.
“So what I'm saying is it's not about age, it doesn't matter if you're black or white, rich or poor or middle-income, it's about being the candidate of political and economic change to make this country thrive. And that person is Donald J. Trump, not Kamala Harris,” Donald said.
