On Wednesday, a caller challenged radio host Charlaman the God over his support for Vice President Kamala Harris.
Charlaman did not endorse President Joe Biden when he was seeking reelection in May, but said When the president backed Harris and withdrew in July, he said he was “absolutely supporting Harris.”The Breakfast Club” expressed surprise that Sharmaan and his co-hosts were endorsing Harris, given her record as vice president. “Why are you guys so in love with Kamala? You guys are obsessed with this woman. She's been vice president for almost four years and she's done nothing,” the caller said. “She copied and pasted Trump's 'no tax on tips' and we're all falling for it. It's ridiculous. What's wrong with you guys? … No, Charmagne, you too, you're just as guilty, not you, [DJ] I'm jealous, I'm jealous. You're 50/50, I get that. But, Charla, hey.”
“I've actually been a supporter of the vice president since 2020. I campaigned with her a couple times in 2020. I love her message of rebuilding the middle class,” Charmagne replied. “Wouldn't you like the opportunity to own a small business? Wouldn't you like the opportunity to own a home? Wouldn't you like to see more money in working-class people's pockets? And I love the fact that she's not just talking about mental health, she's putting her money where her mouth is on mental health, putting $285 million to increase the number of mental health professionals in schools. She's a leader in maternal and child health. Do I love the Democratic Party as a whole? No, but I do like some of her policies.”
The caller said Harris has failed in her role to stem the border crisis.
“So you're saying everyone's suffering over what's been going on for the last four years. She's done absolutely nothing on the border. That was her only job as vice president and she's done absolutely nothing,” he said. “She's just a face. Don't you know she's not in charge of the Democratic Party, she's not the person who runs the party?”
“By the way, I had to temper my expectations as well, but that's the point, it's not like the vice president hasn't been doing anything,” Charmagne said. “That's what a vice president is supposed to do. But she's done a lot. But the vice president should be quiet. She's not in charge.”
Another caller recently criticized Sharmaan for supporting Harris, telling the radio host that former President Donald Trump made America “great” to him.
“Hey Sharmaan, you're tap dancing like a mama. You need to stop that. Are you employed by Kamala? Seriously, stop,” the caller said. “You need to stop that bullshit you're doing. I thought you were my OG.”
