Chicago White Sox Make Remarkable History, And Not In A Good Way

How on earth can something so awful be done?

August is drawing to a close, there's still a little over a month of baseball left, but the Chicago White Sox have already lost 100 games.

Oh my goodness.

As of August 25th, the White Sox are horrible. 31-100 The record was broken when they lost 9-4 to the Detroit Tigers on Sunday. (Related article: Yankees have iconic day with consecutive home runs from Juan Soto, Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton)

Yeah, that's pretty bad. And historically. By reaching 100 losses before September, Chicago became the second-fastest team in MLB history to reach the TRIPLE-L mark. The only team to do so at a faster pace was the 1916 Philadelphia Athletics, who recorded 100 losses in 130 games, finishing with an astounding record of 29 wins, 100 losses and 1 tie.

To make matters worse, the Red Sox would have to win at least 12 of their final 31 games to avoid becoming the record holder for most losses in a season, a record currently held by the 1962 New York Mets, who finished with a dismal 40-120-1 record that season.

Oh, and there's also this little gem:

And the other thing that makes this even worse for the South is how long it took for the Red Sox to get so bad.

Ouch… that hurts.
