MLB Outfielder Knocks Himself Out Of Game After Running Full Speed Into Wall To Make Incredible Catch

Houston Astros left fielder Mauricio Dubon made an incredible running catch at Camden Yards in Baltimore on Sunday night that resulted in him being ejected from the game, KHOU 11 reports.

The Astros utility man was reportedly sensational in the seventh inning of Houston's 6-3 win over the Baltimore Orioles when Ramon Urias hit a deep, two-out fly down the left field line. KHOU11The video shows the 29-year-old Dubon sprinting, covering more than 130 feet and catching the ball just in front of the wall at Camden Yards. Dubon was unable to stop as he tried to cover ground quickly and slammed hard into the wall with the ball still in his hands for the out.

Footage shows Dubon rolling slowly across the warning track in intense pain, his gloves at his side, holding his head and clutching his left shoulder.

“Oh man! Look what happens when Dubon keeps running and crashes into the wall hard,” an ESPN commentator can be heard saying. “Mauricio Dubon, what a play.”

Astros trainers rushed to check on Dubon, who was lying on the left field line, KHOU 11 reported. After a short time, Dubon got up and walked off the field on his own, but then collided with a wall and was removed from the game.

Astros manager Joe Espada said Dubon was expected to be OK despite the hard impact with the wall, according to KHOU11.

“The doctor came and examined him,” Espada said, “and he's OK, but he'll be in some pain from hitting the wall so hard.”

Dubon, a six-year MLB veteran who played primarily in a utility role with three major league teams, was batting .252 with four home runs entering Sunday night's game.
