Mariah Carey confirmed that her mother, Patricia, and sister, Allison, died on the same day.

The Grammy winner expressed gratitude for being able to spend quality time with his mother before her passing, but did not provide details about the circumstances that led to her death.
“I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to spend my mom's last week with me before she passed away,” Carey told People magazine.
“We thank everyone for their love, support and respect for our privacy during this difficult time,” she said.

Patricia was an opera singer and vocal coach who studied at Juilliard and later married Alfred Roy Carey. The couple had two daughters, Allison, Mariah, and Morgan, and a son.
