Paramount+ announced the premiere date and first photos for the second season of Taylor Sheridan's “Lionesses” on Wednesday, and it doesn't disappoint.
Nicole Kidman, Zoe Saldana, Morgan Freeman, Michael Kelly and others will reprise roles in the second season of this adrenaline-fueled series from Sheridan and Paramount+, which is set to be released on October 27th, proving that my predictions have been right again!
Paramount will dominate Sunday nights through the fall and winter with new seasons of “Tulsa Kings” and “Yellowstone” airing from September through November, plus the upcoming “Landman” series starring Billy Bob Thornton, Jon Hamm and Demi Moore. Of all these disparate series, “Lioness” is undoubtedly one of the most powerful, female-driven.

Genesis Rodriguez joins the series as Josie Carillo and looks like an absolute powerhouse in the first images, with Dave Annable, Jill Wagner, LaMonica Garrett, James Jordan and several others reprising their roles. The new season will begin with Saldana's character, Jo, “taking the vacation she's been wanting,” Saldana said. said “She's taking the time to repair her marriage and repair her relationship with her daughter. She's just spending time with her family … Jo and Neil have a really good relationship at the beginning of the season.”

Judging by the photos, Joe's relationships aren't going to last long, and part of the reason for that is his relationship with Rodriguez's character, Carillo. “It's a weird relationship. There was a lot of mistrust from the beginning,” Saldana told People magazine.
But apparently working with her is the complete opposite: “She's sweet, kind and very professional. When you talk to her, she has such a lightness of spirit that she brings a smile to everyone's faces,” Saldana reportedly continued. According to Deadline, Season 2's storyline will move “closer to home,” and we can't wait to see what that means.
