San Francisco 49ers rookie wide receiver and first-round draft pick Ricky Pearsall was shot during an attempted robbery in the Union Square neighborhood of San Francisco on Saturday afternoon.
Superintendent Aaron Peskin's office has been in contact with San Francisco police, who said Pearsall is in stable condition and the suspect is in custody. Peskin covers the downtown Union Square area, known for upscale shopping, hotels and restaurants.
Mayor London Breed's office said she was on her way to San Francisco General Hospital, where Pearsall was taken for treatment.
