Legendary actor Obi Ndefo has passed away at the age of 51, his family confirmed in a social media post on Friday.
The “Dawson's Creek” and “Stargate SG-1” star's sister, Nkem Ndefo, announced his death on Facebook along with a throwback photo of the siblings. No cause of death was given.
“We are heartbroken over the loss of our brother, but we are glad to know he can finally rest in peace,” his sister said. Written On facebook.

Ndefo died five years after having both his legs amputated in a hit-and-run accident in Los Angeles on August 17, 2019. Authorities have charged John Michael Mars with DUI in connection with the hit-and-run. According to KTLA, Ndefo was standing behind a parked car when Mars allegedly hit him with his car and fled the scene. Reported.
County Inmates record Mace was arrested the day after the crash and was being held on $160,000 bail. KTLA reported that he was charged with one felony count each of DUI causing injury, driving with a blood alcohol level of 0.08% causing injury, and hit-and-run causing injury. He also reportedly was charged with an additional misdemeanor count of driving on a suspended or revoked license resulting from a DUI conviction. Ndefo is a graduate of the Yale School of Drama and his acting career has spanned popular shows such as “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine,” “The Wayans Brothers,” “The Jamie Foxx Show” and “3rd Rock from the Sun.” ReportedHe is best known for playing Joey Potter's stepbrother, Bodie Wells, on Dawson's Creek from 1998 to 2002.
Aside from his memorable TV roles, Ndefo has also appeared in “Angel,” “Star Trek: Voyager,” “Crossing Jordan,” “NYPD Blue,” “The West Wing” and “NCIS: Los Angeles,” according to Deadline. He also donates his time to Arts Alliance for Humanity, a nonprofit organization that promotes arts education in public schools and the community, according to the outlet.
