Former Bill Clinton pollster Mark Penn on Friday criticized Democrats for trying to block former independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy from running before endorsing former President Donald Trump.
Kennedy announced on August 23 that he was dropping his presidential bid in favor of Trump and has since tried to remove his name from the ballot in several states. Penn said Democrats initially tried to remove Kennedy from the ballot but are now trying to keep him on the ballot to draw support away from the former president. “I think some of these things that we've seen include people trying to unfairly remove people from the ballot and even trying to keep RFK on the ballot despite him asking to be removed for partisan gain,” Mark Penn told “Your World” guest host Charles Payne.
Democrats initially fought to remove Kennedy from the ballot even before President Joe Biden announced he would not seek reelection, and polls showed him hurting Biden in key battleground states.
