Taylor Swift finally broke her silence on Tuesday night, endorsing Kamala Harris for president following her debate with former President Donald Trump.
Swift, a self-described “childless cat lover,” took to Instagram at 11pm to announce that she would be voting for Harris in 2024.
“Like many of you, I watched tonight's debate and if you haven't already, now is the perfect time to find out where the candidates stand on the issues at hand and the topics that matter most to you. As a voter, I make it a point to watch and read everything I can about their proposed policies and plans for our country,” Swift began in the caption of a photo of herself holding her cat.
Swift cited concerns about AI-generated images of her supporting Trump and the “risk of spreading misinformation” as the reasons for her decision to go public. Trump's August 18 “Swifties For Trump” post featured four images, one of which was an AI-generated photo of Swift in patriotic clothing, with the text “Taylor wants you to vote for Donald Trump.”

“I will be voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz for President in 2024. Follow “She fights for rights and causes and I believe we need warriors to defend them,” Swift wrote. “I think she is a solid and talented leader, and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm instead of chaos. Swift urged her followers to do their research, register to vote and vote early. “The choice is yours,” she emphasized.
