of Litigation This is the latest in a series of legal battles between Gascón and the Association of Deputy District Attorneys (ADDA), which represents hundreds of prosecutors in his office. According to Press Release: ADDA alleges that Gascón, who is backed by left-wing billionaire George Soros, violated the California Public Records Act (CPRA) by withholding records relating to Diana Teran.

Teran, who was indicted on felony charges in April, misused classified files from his previous employment with the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department, the office of Attorney General Rob Bonta, a California Democrat, alleged. “California Public Records Law is clear that public agencies must provide access to public records promptly and without unnecessary delay, yet George Gascón has consistently violated the law by unlawfully delaying and obstructing the process,” ADDA Vice President Ryan Elrich said in a press release.

Neama Rahamani, a former federal prosecutor, said The ADDA has a right to access the information. “These are public documents and the union and other members of the public have a right to access this information,” Lahamani was quoted as saying, according to Fox News Digital. “Of course, Teran is a high-ranking deputy district attorney and a close ally of Mr. Gascón, who is facing a formidable challenger in November, and the union has filed lawsuits against him during Mr. Gascón's tumultuous first term.”

According to a press release, Gascón, who has often been criticized for his lenient attitude toward crime, has been the target of previous ADDA lawsuits. ADDA's latest lawsuit seeks to force Gascón's office to release the records in question, to declare his office's alleged actions unlawful, and to cover the union's legal fees incurred in the case.
