Flagstaff entered the tilt Thursday with two straight wins against Copper Canyon, but will enter its next game on a three-game winning streak. They defeated the Copper Canyon Aztecs 45-28. The Eagles' offense stepped up its game in this game, and this was the most points they had scored all season.
Flagstaff was led to the victory by Jadon Wetzel and Chase Brown. Wetzel totaled 173 yards and three touchdowns, while Brown threw for 310 yards and three touchdowns. Wetzel's rushing numbers have been exceptional as of late, with three straight games dating back to last season with at least 112 rushing yards. Another player who made a difference was Chase Carlson, who had 72 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
It was Flagstaff's third straight home win, improving their record to 4 wins and 1 loss. As for Copper Canyon, they lost four straight and now have one win and four losses.
Both teams will have to travel on the road for their upcoming games. Flagstaff will play Mingus on Friday at 7 p.m. As for Copper Canyon, they head to face Washington on Friday at 7 p.m.
