sedona news – Nonprofit organization Solar United Neighbors (SUN) recently announced the launch of the Northern Arizona Solar Cooperative, which will help residents of Sedona, Flagstaff and Coconino counties purchase solar power. By joining the free co-op, homeowners and business owners in the three regions can learn about solar energy and use their purchasing power to purchase individual solar systems at group discounts.
“If you've ever thought about going solar, now is the time,” said Adrian Keller, Arizona program director for Solar United Neighbors. “When you join a solar cooperative, you can partner with solar experts and your neighbors to get great deals on solar power for your home.”
Joining a solar power cooperative does not guarantee a purchase. Co-op members can purchase panels and electric vehicle chargers individually based on the installer's group rate.
After a competitive bidding process facilitated by SUN, co-op members will select a single solar power company to complete the installation. SUN provides guidance on the process, but remains vendor-neutral and empowers co-op members to make decisions.
“The City of Sedona is excited to partner with Solar United Neighbors, the City of Flagstaff, and Coconino County for the 2024 Northern Arizona Solar Cooperative,” said Zach Schwartz, City of Sedona Sustainability Coordinator. he said. “Installing solar power is a great way to improve your home’s resiliency while reducing emissions and energy bills. This co-op brings together residents from all over northern Arizona to directly select providers and help reduce climate change. It provides an opportunity to address changes.”
SUN will host several free information sessions to educate community members about solar energy and solar power cooperatives. Individuals interested in solar power can sign up for the co-op at: www.solarunitedneighbors.org/northernaz Or learn more at one of our upcoming information sessions listed below.
This is the fourth solar cooperative that SUN has hosted in the region. Since 2021, we have helped over 150 residents install solar power.
