Flagstaff has already won two in a row (outscoring its opponents by an average of 18.5 points) and moved on Thursday to win its third straight. They easily won 45-28 against the Copper Canyon Aztecs. The Eagles' offense stepped up its game in this game, and this was the most points they had scored all season.
Flagstaff was led to the victory by Jadon Wetzel and Chase Brown. Wetzel totaled 173 yards and three touchdowns, while Brown threw for 310 yards and three touchdowns. Wetzel's rushing numbers have been exceptional so far, with three straight games dating back to last season with at least 112 rushing yards. Chase Carlson was another key player with 72 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Flagstaff didn't let Copper Canyon hold the ball and forced four fumbles. It was truly a group effort as Ethan Suda, Tuffy Callander, Garrett DeGraff and DeGraff each picked up one.
It was Flagstaff's third straight home win, improving their record to 4-1. As for Copper Canyon, they lost four straight and now have one win and four losses.
Both teams will have to travel on the road for their upcoming games. Flagstaff will be away from home to face Mingus on Friday at 7 p.m. As for Copper Canyon, they will face Washington on Friday at 7 p.m.
