Coconino Comes Up Short Despite Colton Buckingham’s Strong Performance

Coconino beat Bradshaw Mountain 41-7 the last time they met in September 2023, but this time their luck changed. On Friday, the Coconino Panthers lost to the Bradshaw Mountain Bears 27-20. The Panthers took a 13-0 lead in the second game, but were unable to hold on to their lead.

Don’t look at Colton Buckingham when he explains why Coconino lost. Despite the final result, he threw for 269 yards on just 17 passes, scored two touchdowns, and also scored a touchdown on the ground. A healthy portion of that aerial production (114 yards to be exact) went to Noble Young-Blackgoat.

Coconino went on a losing streak with 2 wins and 3 losses. As for Bradshaw Mountain, this victory (fourth consecutive year) brings their record to four wins and two losses.

Coconino hosts Lee Williams on Friday at 7 p.m. Lee Williams comes into this contest coming off a three-game losing streak on the road, so Coconino will have to defend against a team looking for a win. As for Bradshaw Mountain, their next game is a little bit away so they have time to savor the victory. They will play Mingus on Oct. 18 at 7 p.m.
