These developments followed an in-depth investigation that revealed Mr. Tauhedi’s communications with ISIS recruiters and online participation in the extremist group, the Justice Department said. Further investigation into Tauhedi’s activities revealed that he was involved in pro-ISIS propaganda and funding organizations associated with the terrorist organization.
The investigation also found evidence that Taewedi was indoctrinating young children about martyrdom, confirming his deep ties to extremist ideology, the Justice Department added.
In September, the Justice Department indicted six top Hamas leaders, including Yahya Sinwar and Ismail Haniyeh, on charges of terrorism, murder conspiracy, and sanctions evasion, and is stepping up its crackdown on terrorism.
