“It’s very common in this culture for young actors to be controlled, but the way they try to do that is always, ‘Oh, don’t make it difficult.’ Don’t make it difficult. . Or are you complaining, are you being difficult? Something like that,” he told Men’s Health.
The famous actor admitted that he has become more focused on making sure his concerns are heard and taken seriously.
“After the accident, I learned that taking care of yourself shouldn’t be confused with taking care of yourself,” he says.
“Don’t let them think it’s difficult, because when I look back on that day, I was a 24-year-old kid voicing concerns about how we approach things. “They were not respected,” he claimed.

“And then what happened. And no matter how you look at it, I would say it all got away with it,” O’Brien told Men’s Health.
Fed up with the safety protocols on set, O’Brien took on the responsibility of ensuring his own safety.
“It taught me that at the end of the day, in a space like this, you have my back, and that’s the thing you can rely on the most,” he said.
The star pushed back against a common phrase used to allay concerns voiced by actors on movie sets.
“I just turned 33. I’ve been doing this job for 15 years. I know who I am, the character I bring to the stage, the way I treat people, the way I treat people at work, I know I’m not a difficult person. I know I’m not an asshole,” he told the media. “I know I was trying to protect myself that day, so I’ve never forgotten that. That’s always going to be true for me and always something to keep in mind,” he continued.
