Former FTX executive Ryan Salame posted a celebratory post on LinkedIn on Wednesday announcing his future status as an inmate at the Federal Correctional Facility in Cumberland, Maryland.
Salame was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison in 2022 for fraud and campaign finance charges related to the collapse of FTX founder Sam Bankman Fried’s cryptocurrency exchange. Salameh, 31, a former member of Bankman Freed’s internal organization, Circle updated his LinkedIn profile with a tongue-in-cheek jab about his “new position” in the coming years.
“I am pleased to share that I am taking on a new position as an inmate at FCI Cumberland,” Salameh’s LinkedIn post reads, using the professional website’s new position template.

While some users seemed to be taking notice of the pending prisoner joke, others were likely in on the joke, with comments pouring in praising Salameh’s “new position.”
“Congratulations! Best of luck in your new role,” one LinkedIn user wrote.
“Congratulations Ryan,” one person commented.
“Congratulations Ryan! We wish you many more years of celebration! Well deserved,” reacted another LinkedIn user with the title of CEO.
Salame is scheduled to report to FCI Cumberland on Friday.
Salameh told Tucker Carlson in an interview published Wednesday that he is the only FTX executive who is not a partisan Democrat. He accused the US Department of Justice (DOJ) of accusing him of “trumped up” crimes to put pressure on him.
