JOSH HAMMER: It’s Time For A New Commander In Chief — Just Ask Israel

Within minutes of Hamas jihadists breaching the Israeli border, October 7, 2023and as the largest genocide of Jews since the Holocaust began, Western leftists and other defenders of the Palestinian Arab genocide cause rallied around the argument that “this did not happen in a vacuum.” .

This claim is not even acknowledged by armchair revolutionaries who deny the existence of hundreds of slaughtered babies, brutally tortured families, raped women, and young music festival attendees taken hostage. The argument presented was that Israel had somehow incited a horrific violence against its own civilian population. Anyone with a functioning moral compass would recognize this as an obvious apology for terrorism.

But a year later, when I look back on the Hamas massacre and the current situation in the Middle East, where Israel is currently fighting a seven-front war, I wonder if the terror apologists had a point. That is not to suggest that these moral monsters who justify, defend, and praise pogroms so brutal that Heinrich Himmler would blush were in any way right. But the mini-jihadists were right to suggest that the massacre had a broader geopolitical context – just not quite the one they had in mind. The relevant context in fact was the weak, failing, and emboldening foreign policies of former President Barack Obama, President Joe Biden, and Vice President Kamala Harris. As the American people prepare to choose their next commander-in-chief, the clear contrast between the foreign policy failures of previous Democratic administrations and the successful foreign policy of interregnum Republican administrations and perhaps future President Donald Trump’s administration continues to emerge. Contrasts are useful.

The basic principles of Obama, Biden, and Harris foreign policy are simple: Reward America’s enemies and punish America’s friends. President Obama famously tried to create a “sunlight” with Israel, America’s most reliable and aligned Middle East ally in its national interests. he deleted A bust of Winston Churchill in the Oval Office. It is a symbolic slap in the face to Britain, with which the United States has (had?) a “special relationship.” He emboldened Islamist fanatics in Tehran, fooled a skeptical American public with the disastrous nuclear deal, and even secretly Sent Wooden pallets containing $400 million in cash were handed over to the mullahs. The Biden-Harris administration is doubling down on everything. The administration is the most anti-Israel regime since Israel’s founding in 1948, continuing the policies of the Obama-Biden administration, lavishing billions of dollars in ransom payments and sanctions waivers on the mullahs. This is an indulgence of the Chinese Communist Party, the great enemy of American civilization.

The foreign policy results of Obama, Biden, and Harris were disastrous. Through both Democratic administrations, we have witnessed unprecedented Islamist fanaticism and murderous jihadism across the Middle East, Russian President Vladimir Putin said. invade ukraine Twice (both in 2014 and 2022), China’s military has not hesitated to threaten America’s core allies like Japan and the Philippines, and Beijing’s Belt and Road Initiative across vast Eurasia. More generally, it is the emergence of China’s breathtaking global footprint. It threatens our military presence in the hemisphere. This is an abominable track record. The basic principles of Trump’s foreign policy are similarly simple, but in reverse: Reward America’s friends and punish America’s enemies. Trump was the most pro-Israel president in American history. he moved the US embassy to that location rightful home Jerusalem recognized Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights and cut off funding to anti-Israel UN agencies. Trump is also the most anti-Iranian president since the Islamic revolution toppled Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi in 1979. Mr. Trump’s Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, bankrupted the Mullahs and isolated and sanctioned them for any malign activity. He restored America’s warm relations with nationalist, non-Islamist Sunni Arab states such as Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain. Despite the hysteria over the Russian collusion hoax, he was very tough on President Putin. He was the first president since Richard Nixon’s fateful 1972 trip to Beijing to fundamentally improve U.S.-China relations.

The results of Trump’s foreign policy have been immeasurable. The Iranian regime was contained and brought to the brink of bankruptcy due to oil export sanctions. A transformative and intergenerational peace in the Middle East Abraham Accords Between Israel and the UAE, Bahrain, Morocco and Sudan. European countries have paid their fair share to NATO, and President Putin has been shunned. While Chinese President Xi Jinping exercised restraint, U.S. relations with Japan and India flourished.

The contrast couldn’t be more vivid.

I saw Trump talk on monday night Doral, Florida marks the one-year anniversary of the Hamas massacre on October 7, 2023. President Trump emphasized that if he had been president, the massacre would never have occurred. He’s right about that. And to that extent, it is true that pogroms “did not occur in isolation.”

Americans could not have asked for a sharper contrast in their election. Choose wisely.
