Even if Florida were able to verify the citizenship status of these individuals without DHS assistance, the state would be wasting resources, the lawsuit says. The state of Florida cannot guarantee the integrity of its elections and the accuracy of its voter rolls without additional information from officials, the complaint added.
The complaint alleges that the defendants failed to provide FDOS with information to confirm the immigration status of the individuals identified by the State of Florida in a timely manner.
In addition to permanent injunctive relief, the lawsuit also seeks an order “compelling” the defendants to comply with Florida’s investigation and other relief awards.
