Grammy winner will open Chamber Music Sedona’s new season

Chamber Music Sedona opens its 42nd season with Grammy Award-winning guitarist Jason Viau on stage.

Viaud will perform a program for solo guitar that includes works by Bach, Agustín Barrios, Pat Metheny and others. The concert will be held on Sunday, Dec. 8 at 3 p.m. at the Sedona Performing Arts Center, 995 Upper Red Rock Loop Road.

Viaud solidified his reputation as an artist, appearing at venues from New York’s Lincoln Center to Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw to the Seoul Arts Center. With a rich repertoire of concertos, he has performed with numerous orchestras, performed with several famous conductors, and made his first recordings with the Nashville Symphony Orchestra (Leshnoff Concerto) and the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra (Bier Six Sixteen). is being carried out.

His discography includes Bach Volume 2: Works for Violin, released by Ajika in 2022. Additional releases in 2022 include “Shining Night,” featuring a duo with violinist Anne Akiko Meyers, and Michael Fine’s “Luna Concerto” with flutist Alexa Still.

Viau recorded Metheny’s “Four Paths of Light,” a solo work Pat dedicated to him, for Metheny’s 2021 album Road to the Sun. Viau won the 2014 Best Instrumental Classical Solo Grammy Award for “Play.”
