Victor Davis Hanson, a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution, said on his podcast Friday that he believes former President Donald Trump will defeat Vice President Kamala Harris in November.
Polls between Trump and Harris appear to be a tug-of-war, with political commentators warning that the former president has an advantage in key Democratic voting blocs. Hanson said on “The Victor Davis Hanson Show” that the public’s overall judgment of Harris’ character will lead voters to turn away from her.
“I think she’s running out of time. Maybe she could have done this for 90 days and gone through all this and then she could have gotten some experience, but she’s now doing all kinds of gymnastics. “It’s a challenge,” Hanson said. “But it’s going to take time. I mean, people are so busy, they’re working, they’re interested in other things, so they can’t watch TV or read the news, but in 90 days… You get enough clips here and there of them driving to work. [and] They sound a little bit. ”
“They turn on the TV and it broadcasts surfing, and they watch a little bit. When they go online, a little breaking news comes on the screen and it gets louder. Now she’s I think we’ve come to the conclusion that people understand that. [not] There, she’s just an empty pantsuit – she really is. I think she’s going to lose, I really do,” Hanson added. “I don’t want to predict, and I’m not very good at predicting, but it could be a close landslide where she loses by 40,000 or 50,000 votes in all seven battleground states.”
Hanson pointed to a Marist national poll released Oct. 16 showing Harris leading Trump by 5 points nationally. But the data also showed Trump holding a 10-point lead over Harris among independent voters. “I don’t really understand that. [about] Public opinion poll. Even though independents are increasing in support of Trump, blacks are increasing in favor of Trump, Latinos are becoming more popular, and support among women remains the same (she has a significant lead), Trump’s Marist poll shows It is impossible for the value to decrease. So he went down five spots. That makes no sense at all,” Hanson said.
“So you can see that a lot of pollsters are willing to sacrifice their integrity and reputation to get her elected. “But they are using polls to drum up support,” Hanson continued. “I don’t think it’s having any effect, and it suggests they might be really in shock. Rachel Maddow might be in tears again on the eve of the election.”
Both Harris and Trump have bounced back and forth in polls in battleground states, but RealClearPolitics’ current averages show Trump generally leading in key states. . In seven of the key battleground states, Trump currently leads by 0.8 points with 48.3% support, while Harris is slightly behind at 47.5%.
Nationally, Trump is still slightly behind Harris, the paper said. real clear politics The average poll showed the vice president leading Trump by 1.4 points. But on Thursday, pollster Nate Silver released His latest predictive model shows Trump with a slight lead of more than half a percentage point over Harris.
