The Mingus Marauders will be on the road to take on the Coconino Panthers on Friday at 7 p.m. Mingus comes into this match on a three-game losing streak.
Last Friday, Mingus lost at home to Bradshaw Mountain by a 39-22 margin. The Marauders trailed 39-14 at the end of the third quarter, a deficit that was too large to come back from.
Raines Stokes had a good effort for the losing side, rushing for 78 yards and one touchdown and throwing for 177 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, everything turned around for Coconino on Friday against Apache Junction, as the team cruised to a 40-13 win. With this win, the Panthers increased their average to 27.1 points per game.
It was another big night for Fernando Ramirez, who had 84 yards and two touchdowns on just nine carries. Another difference-maker was Colton Buckingham, who completed 76.9 percent of his passes for 134 yards and two touchdowns.
Mingus’ loss dropped his record to 1 win and 6 losses. As for Coconino, he currently has 4 wins and 3 losses.
Mingus suffered a 38-9 loss at the hands of Coconino in their last encounter in October 2023.
