The Department of Justice (DOJ) has told Elon Musk’s America PAC that a $1 million giveaway to registered voters in key battleground states may violate federal regulations, according to the Wall Street Journal. reportedly notified.
These payments could violate laws that prohibit compensating people who register or vote in elections involving federal candidates. According to WSJ reported in response to the Justice Department’s letter. Musk’s political action committee is offering a chance to win $1 million to registered voters in Pennsylvania and six other key states who pledge support for free speech and gun rights by signing a petition. It is actively promoted.
America Pac declined to comment, but a spokesperson earlier insisted that their winnings were completely legal and suggested that the media outcry would only help their cause. The Journal reported earlier this week that a representative said, “The PAC is confident in the legality of this effort, and the predictable media disruption will only aid America PAC’s efforts to support President Trump.”

Three Pennsylvania voters and one North Carolina voter have secured millions of dollars in prizes, and daily drawings for new and existing registrants will continue until Election Day, the WSJ reports. That’s what it means. Musk said the $1 million reward from his PAC will be given without conditions, except for the expectation that the winner will support his petition.
The sweepstakes is aimed at increasing voter registration in battleground states, as he is an avid supporter of former President Donald Trump’s re-election bid. Musk announced Saturday evening at a Trump campaign rally in Pennsylvania that he would donate $1 million to one person every day. UCLA law professor Rick Hasen has previously questioned whether a constitutional amendment is needed to curtail the influence of ultra-wealthy individuals like Musk on political campaigns. On MSNBC, Hasen affirmed the legality of Musk’s super PAC and other businesses, noting that efforts to curb election spending by the ultra-wealthy are considered unconstitutional under current law.
