Mark Halperin Says Harris’ CNN Town Hall ‘Performance’ Was ‘Last Straw For A Lot Of Democrats’

Journalist Mark Halperin said Thursday that Vice President Kamala Harris’ “performance” at a CNN town hall on Wednesday has left many Democrats feeling resigned about her candidacy.

Shortly after the town hall, Harris faced criticism from CNN host Dana Bash and CNN senior political commentator David Axelrod for indirect answers during the event. Halperin, 2WAY platformargued that Democrats recognize that Harris doesn’t have a chance to hone her skills now that the presidential campaign is coming to a close. “We’re not going to go too far here and say, ‘It’s over.'” [former President Donald] Trump will win. “But a lot of what we’re going to talk about today is not good for Kamala Harris. Again, that doesn’t mean Trump is a great person in the eyes of all of America,” Halperin said. “It doesn’t mean Trump is going to win, but what we have now is a growing problem for Democrats. You saw that last night on CNN’s Democratic commentary after the town hall.”

“As you saw on morning TV, Democratic pundits are trying to keep a poker face and clearly feel what many Democratic donors and Democratic elected officials are feeling. “That means there’s no time left for her to get better,” he added. “And the biggest story in this series of news stories, along with the ‘Trump loves Hitler’ thing we’re about to talk about, is that her performance last night was the final straw for many Democrats. “The more I do it, the better she gets.” No more. ”

The journalist then urged Democratic strategist Dan Turrentine to share his perception of City Hall and “why it’s considered such a disaster in Democratic circles.” Mr. Turrentine first argued that Ms. Harris had effectively delivered a message denouncing Mr. Trump as a “fascist,” and then raised concerns about the vice president’s approach.

“We saw this in 2019, and there was hope that as she did more interviews and became calmer and more comfortable, we would see a person with passion and humor. “As we’re talking about it, Trump is having fun. It’s clear he’s in pretty good shape,” he said. “So I think what’s frustrating for Democrats is that it’s clear at this point that she’s completely incapable of answering the question, ‘Why should I be on your side?'” I hope a few voters decide she doesn’t need to do that, but I’m not confident about that. ”

Harris is currently trailing Trump in all seven battleground states. According to Convert to average value of RealClear Polling. Halperin claimed Tuesday that if current early voting trends continue, Trump will become the next president on Nov. 5.
