A recently circulated video shows Denzel Washington seemingly losing his cool with a group of fans during a visit to the Museum of Modern Art in New York on Wednesday.
The legendary actor arrived to attend a movie benefit honoring Samuel L. Jackson and paused briefly to interact with fans. Several people gathered outside the building to get autographs and take selfies with the star.
Washington interacted with some fans and took pictures, then began walking toward the building. He suddenly stopped, turned around and began a heated exchange with a group of fans, making it clear how displeased he was with their actions.
It’s unclear what prompted Washington’s reaction, but it appears that someone in the group said something that upset him as they were leaving.
The video showed the 69-year-old Academy Award winner walking towards the group with an angry expression on his face. Then Washington was heard saying, I heard you,” but it was unclear which object he was referring to.

“You’re talking about showing love…respect me,” Washington said while preaching to those standing in front of him.
I heard one person in the group say, “That’s always the case!” But apparently that wasn’t enough for Washington.
He continued to scold the fan, but suggested they meet later.

“I said, ‘I’ll see you when I get out.’ What part do you not understand?” Washington said. (Related article: John Mellencamp sends fans into a frenzy, causing audience member to walk off stage after being irritated by abusive language)
“No or no! You can do it the other way. You can do it either way, I will,” he said.
The famous actor broke the conversation, turned and walked into the building, abruptly stopping the encounter.
