Yuma, Arizona (AZ Family) — A man is hospitalized after investigators say he was shot and killed after he pointed a shotgun at Yuma County Sheriff’s Office officers Monday morning.
YCSO said the unidentified 51-year-old man was in possession of a shotgun when he tried to open a neighbor’s door just before noon.
Investigators say when officers arrived they tried to de-escalate the situation, but the man refused to comply with commands and pointed a gun at them.
That’s when they opened fire.
YCSO said he was hit and dropped the gun.
Deputies said the man was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
No deputies were injured.
