The Navajo County Sheriff’s Office said the dog was uninjured after rescuers descended into the 30-foot gap to rescue the pup.
Winslow, Arizona — Navajo County Sheriff’s Office I recently helped reunite a dog with its owner after it fell into a deep chasm near Little Painted Desert Park.
Deputies were dispatched to the park Monday morning after receiving a call from a woman who said her dog had fallen off the edge of a canyon.
Lawmakers were able to hear the dog barking from the bottom of the canyon crevice. Rescuers from the City of Joseph Fire District were called and were able to rappel down 30 feet to retrieve the dog.
Lila the dog was not injured and was reunited with her owner, the NCSO said.
“The Navajo County Sheriff’s Department is grateful for all the partnerships we have forged in our community. This was a great ending to a terrifying situation,” the agency wrote in a statement.
