“I think it’s also important to mention here that Kamala Harris has been given a mission that no other person in American history has been given. Build a presidential campaign in 90 to 100 days, with no expectations and no end. , we have to carry out that mission to save this country from a huge fascist threat that has been campaigning and pumping for essentially eight years now,” Ocasio-Cortez said. said on Instagram Live Wednesday night.

“As another well-known woman of color in public office, I knew that misogyny was very real in this country. Sexism and racism were real. “But it wasn’t until I was on the national stage that I was actually shocked at how bad it was,” she added. “You know, you grow up with it, but when you’re on the receiving line, or when you’re exposed to millions of eyeballs all over the country at once, you feel the fire hose and you realize how deeply ingrained it is. There’s something about actually understanding who you are.

He said these systemic biases influence election outcomes more than is commonly realized. If Harris had been a man, the outcome of the election might have been different.

“If Kamala Harris had been Tom Harris, we might have had a different outcome today. We don’t know. So it’s impossible to try to engage in sectarian explanations again. “I think it’s important for all of us to keep this in mind at once,” she continued.

Former Democratic Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill also defended Harris on MSNBC, tearfully blaming Harris’ election loss on the unique challenges she faced. She detailed how Kamala Harris’ path has been full of challenges.
