The key culprit behind the Democrats’ disastrous decision to elevate Kamala Harris to the top of the hierarchy is hiding in plain sight.
Democrats have already begun to criticize Harris after her crushing loss to former (and future) President Donald Trump. Party members have also criticized Joe Biden for not dropping out of the race early enough to give Kamala a chance. But what about the one man who helped pave the way for weak and unpopular candidates like Kamala? (Stream the Daily Caller’s latest documentary “Cleaning Up Kamila” here)
Let’s go back a few years to 2020, when Biden was still the nominee. His campaign in the Democratic primary had stalled after poor results in New Hampshire and Iowa. As Bernie Sanders continues to gain momentum, Democratic South Carolina Representative James Clyburn, the most prominent black lawmaker, said: started supporting Biden was elected in February 2020, just before the state’s primary election. This was a hot topic at the time, as it appeared that Bernie would lose the nomination. But Clyburn gave the Biden campaign a lifeline, mobilizing many black voters across South Carolina to elect Joe over Bernie.

Months later, after Biden and Harris defeated Trump, Clyburn said CNN reported that he urged Biden to choose a black woman as his running mate. At the time, the congressman seemed confident in his advice to choose a woman of color following his victory over incumbent Trump.
“When Joe was making a decision, Joe and I talked about it several times,” Clyburn told CNN’s Dana Bash. “He said it was going to be a woman, and I don’t mind saying it now, but I told him privately that I think there are a lot of outcomes that will determine whether that woman is a black woman or not. I did.”
“I gave him all my advice in confidence,” he continued. “But I’m very happy that a black woman was chosen. I think it strengthens our relationship with the black community.”
It is no exaggeration to say that Mr. Biden is indebted to Mr. Clyburn for gaining support in the primary election. And what better way to reward South Carolina’s black senator than by listening to his demands and choosing a black woman as his running mate?
So the Democrats are blaming Biden himself for the bombardment, all the racists and misogynists, brainwashed Hispanics and brainwashed black men, white women who hated themselves and lost their rights when they voted for Trump. Don’t forget Jim Clyburn. Mr. Clyburn is a hallowed figure within the party, but he is likely immune to criticism. I wonder if the Democrats don’t even realize that they urged Biden to choose someone like Kamala in the first place. Even if it were, it doesn’t matter. The left’s reaction to the defeat so far has made it clear that they lack the self-awareness necessary to admit that Kamala was a terrible candidate in 2020 and is a terrible candidate now.
