Flagstaff lost to Coconino in November 2023 and unfortunately had the same result Friday. The Flagstaff Eagles fell short, losing 49-26 to the Coconino Panthers. This loss continues the trend for the Eagles against the Panthers, who have now lost eight in a row.
Flagstaff’s loss shouldn’t obscure the performances of Jadon Wetzel, who totaled 163 yards and two touchdowns, and Chase Brown, who threw for 222 yards and three touchdowns. Wetzel’s rushing performance was exceptional, with eight consecutive games of at least 100 yards rushing. The team also got some help courtesy of AJ Valdez, who gained 34 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Flagstaff’s record was 6 wins and 4 losses. It was Coconino’s fourth straight home win, improving his record to 6-4.
Flagstaff does not have any further games scheduled at this time. As for Coconino, he will take a road trip to face Micah Mountain on Friday at 7 p.m. Micah Mountain enters the fight looking for his 11th straight win, but Coconino won’t give up without a fight.
