Sometimes you don’t need a lot of snow to compromise driving conditions. Slippery road conditions appear to have contributed to an early morning accident in northeastern Iowa that killed four of his people.
WHO report The accident occurred along Highway 20 in Grundy County at approximately 6:49 am. A 15-passenger van was heading west on Highway 20 near the Wellsburg exit when the accident occurred, according to the Iowa State Patrol. WHO Reports said the driver lost control on a slippery road, entered the median, rolled over and stopped in the eastbound lane.
WHO An Iowa Patrol officer reports confirming that there were 13 passengers in the van at the time of the accident. KWWL Four of them said they died from injuries sustained in the crash. Other passengers in the van were taken to hospitals in both Waterloo and Grundy counties for treatment. Their injuries and condition are unknown at this time.
The Grundy County Sheriff’s Office warned drivers of dangerous winter conditions. Facebook post A thin glaze of snow and ice fell over the area Thursday morning. It won’t pile up in the yard, but it was enough to jeopardize the driving conditions. More snow is forecast for Saturday and Saturday night.
