According to Politico, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has refused to invite Pennsylvania Republican Sen.-elect Dave McCormick to his Senate orientation in November, saying McCormick’s campaign is not yet over.
Associated Press (AP) called In Pennsylvania’s Senate race, it was announced Thursday that McCormick defeated incumbent Democratic Sen. Bob Casey with 49% of the vote to Casey’s 48.5%.
Despite calls from the Associated Press, Casey refused to budge.

“There are still more than 100,000 votes remaining in Pennsylvania, and the race has not yet been decided. As is our practice, we will invite the winner once the votes are counted,” Schumer’s spokesperson said in a statement Sunday. provided Go to Politico.
According to the Associated Press, McCormick holds a lead of nearly 40,000 votes over Casey, with 99% of votes counted.
McCormick himself touted that fact on Fox News.
“Mathematically speaking, there is no way for Sen. Casey to win,” McCormick said on Fox. “Right now, I have a lead of about 40,000 votes, which is a very large margin. And ultimately, Sen. Casey will have to decide when to concede it.”
Other Republicans slammed Schumer for withholding McCormick’s invitation.

Other Republicans vying to replace Mr. Schumer as Senate majority leader were also quick to condemn the longtime New York state senator.
“The idea that Mr. Schumer would not allow him to participate in Senate orientation is completely unacceptable,” said Republican South Dakota Sen. John Thune, one of the three senators likely to win. I mentioned it in my paper. Sunday tweet.
“Pennsylvania voters have made their voices heard, and I look forward to hearing Dave’s powerful voice before the Senate Republican Conference.”

Another leadership candidate, Republican Florida Sen. Rick Scott, added his two cents on Sunday, calling the move “disgusting.”
“They did the same thing to me after I won the Democratic Party in 2018. We have to fight this!” Scott wrote.

Others, including Republican Utah Sen. Mike Lee, went further, vowing to personally bring McCormick to the Senate floor for orientation.

Schumer also neglected to invite Democrat Ruben Gallego, the projected winner of the Arizona Senate race, to his orientation. The Associated Press has not yet called either Gallego or his challenger, Republican Kari Lake, in the Arizona Senate race.
