On behalf of the Page Police Department, I would like to thank everyone who was involved in planning, coordinating, or in any way working with the 2024 Balloon Regatta. Organizing an event like this requires a large team, most of whom worked long hours before and during the event.
The Page Police Department will be responsible for traffic, security and general public safety during this event. We would like to thank all our dedicated stakeholders for their efforts to ensure the safety of our people. I would like to thank City Manager Darren Caldwell and Page Councilor Mike Farrow for all their support prior to and during the event.
Finally, I would like to thank the Navajo Police Department, Coconino County Sheriff’s Office, and Coconino County Emergency Management Agency for sending dedicated people who worked hard with us. These people helped us solve evolving problems. We are proud that there were no significant public safety issues during the event. This is the result of the cooperation of everyone involved in this event. We are honored to work with you and appreciate the partnership.
Sincerely,
Tim Lang
page police chief
On November 8, 2024, at approximately 11:41 a.m., officers were dispatched to the intersection of Poplar Street and North Navajo Drive in Page, Arizona for a report of a vehicle that had struck a juvenile cyclist and then fled the scene. On arrival, paramedics and the cyclist said there were no injuries. Investigation revealed the bicycle was traveling northbound on North Navajo Drive in front of Poplar Street. While the suspect vehicle was making a right turn onto North Navajo Drive, the front bumper suddenly contacted the bicycle’s rear tire, causing the suspect to fall off the bicycle. The driver of the car stopped the bike to check on him, but left the scene before police arrived. A short time later, the driver returned and the incident was reported.
Page PD is reminding all drivers to slow down, be courteous, and be aware of bicycles, skateboards, and motorcycles.
