House Speaker Bars Biological Men From Women’s Bathrooms In US Capitol

House Speaker Mike Johnson issued a statement Wednesday banning biological males from women’s restrooms, according to a press release obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation.

“All single-sex facilities (including restrooms, locker rooms, and locker rooms) in the Capitol and House of Commons Office Buildings are reserved for individuals of that biological sex,” Johnson said.

The statement comes just before Democratic Rep.-elect Sarah McBride is sworn in as the first-ever lawmaker to take office.Republican South Carolina Rep. Nancy Mace on Monday asked people in the Capitol complex to identify their biological sex. The announcement follows the submission of a resolution requiring the use of facilities in accordance with the regulations. Recognize that you are transgender. Mr Johnson also said: “Each member’s office has its own toilet, and unisex toilets are available throughout Parliament House.”

“Women should be given their own space,” Johnson said.

Johnson said in a statement that the policy ratifies existing House rules regarding homosexual facilities on Capitol Hill.

“I’m not defending men. There are people with penises in women’s locker rooms. That’s not okay,” Mace told reporters on Tuesday. “And I’m a victim of abuse myself. I’m a rape survivor. I have PTSD from the abuse I suffered at the hands of men, and I know how vulnerable women and girls are in their private spaces. .”

Mace was raped by a friend and classmate when she was 16 years old. According to She has since said the traumatic experience led to “the most difficult period of my life.”

The issue of transgender people using the restroom of the opposite sex gained national attention in 2021 after a biological boy in Loudoun County, Virginia, raped a female student in the girls’ restroom at a public school. The school continued to deny that the assault was an act of violence. This is the result of trans-inclusive policies.
