MARICOPA, Ariz. — Authorities say a fourth arrest has been announced in connection with the shooting death of a Maricopa teenager in November.
The Maricopa Police Department says a 16-year-old boy was shot Nov. 22 in the Maricopa Meadows area. The boy was rushed to the hospital, but his life could not be saved.

The latest person arrested in connection with the shooting is a 17-year-old.
Investigation revealed that the shooting occurred when a group of juveniles planned to rob two people. Witnesses reported seeing the group fleeing the scene after the shooting.

“The group met the two on the pretext of purchasing e-cigarette cartridges. During the incident, the boys, armed with handguns, assaulted the sellers,” police said in a news release.
Police said the person who was shot was involved in a planned robbery and was not the intended target.
Three other people have also been charged in connection with the incident.
