YCSO issues notification on a Level 3 sex offender

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) – The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO) is notifying the community about a Level 3 sex offender in the area.

Paul T. Chapman Jr., 51, told YCSO he lived in the 12000 block of S. Rennie Avenue in Yuma, according to the notice.

YCSO described Chapman as 5 feet 9 inches tall, 147 pounds, with blonde hair and brown eyes, and is not wanted by YCSO at this time.

According to YCSO, Chapman pled guilty in November 1995 and was “convicted of rape/carnage of a minor in Chesterfield County Circuit Court in Chesterfield, Virginia.”

Chapman was sentenced to eight years in prison, but YCSO said the sentence was suspended for 10 years, provided that Chapman “completes his 10-year sentence without committing any further crimes during that period.” ”.

As a result, YCSO said that under the terms of his probation, he will serve one year in county jail and “be placed on probation upon release.”

According to YCSO, the victim was a girl known to Chapman.

YCSO said Chapman is considered a Level 3 sex offender with a high risk of recidivism.
