Rapper Ice Spice was nearly 30 minutes late for a New Year’s Eve concert and when he left the stage after being booed, event organizers cut off his microphone. This is a good kickoff to 2025.

Too many pretentious artists can’t even be bothered to show up on time to their shows. Perhaps this is a lesson they should be taught. Musicians often think they can afford to act entitled, be late, and disrespect fans who have spent good time and money going to their concerts, but now they can’t afford to. It’s time for repayment.

Organizers of the Wildlands Festival at Brisbane Showgrounds canceled Ice Spice’s entrance after she arrived 25 minutes late for her 30-minute performance. They allowed her a quick five-minute set and hung up the microphone as soon as her scheduled time ended. More of this please!

Rappers were shamed, booed, and humiliated. My guess is she’ll think twice before timing it again.

The 25-year-old considers herself a full-fledged A-list celebrity. I mean, she may have a somewhat devoted fan base, but she’s not famous enough to pull off a stunt like this.

The footage of the moment her microphone was cut has been widely circulated on social media, and I hope it spreads enough to make it impossible for her to avoid the feeling of being stabbed.

Who does she think she is? 25 minutes late for a 30 minute set? Did she think the New Year’s Eve countdown and the rest of the show would be flexible? Is she flexible enough to bend the fabric of time to suit her personal whims?

new york post reported Some fans traveled up to six hours to see the show, paying more than $350 per ticket. It’s just an insult that she only appears for the last five minutes of the set, and frankly it would have been better if she didn’t appear at all.

I’m glad the organizers mercilessly humiliated her as she walked off the stage after a very short appearance. Performers shouldn’t win trophies just for appearing. She is being paid to entertain, and she has failed. It would be great if her income was fixed. That really brings it full circle.

People took to social media to vent their frustrations, pointing out how arrogant and rude Ice Spice’s attitude was.

Many praised the event organizers for sticking to their guns, quickly knocking off her sound, and humiliating her off-stage.

If I had to choose a trend for 2025, this would be my vote.

Performers should be penalized for wasting their time and money unless they have a valid reason and provide sufficient notice if things don’t go as planned.
