Thankfully, Nikki Glazer wasn’t up to the task of hosting the 2025 Golden Globes, as the rest of the night unfolded like a sloppy shitshow.

The 82nd Golden Globe Awards aired on January 5th and had perhaps the best host of any awards show ever, but even Glazer’s witty and sharp humor was marred by glitches, awkward moments, and Nothing could spoil the terrible costume. There were some very strange things going on in this show that made it hard to watch and some moments that were downright disgusting.

One might think that an awards show dedicated to Hollywood’s finest would have the right camera angles and technology, but that wasn’t the case. At this year’s Golden Globe Awards, presenters were forced to stand at an angle rather than facing the audience in the traditional manner, and it was an utter disaster. Cameras caught every bizarre moment when the stars tried to crouch and shuffle into their seats, thinking they were under the camera’s view. Celebrities walked past one after another, looking goofy and awkward. They were trying to duck and run, but the show aired every moment that seemed inevitable from that angle.

I never want to see the Golden Globes again with such a terrible angle, with the offset camera showing off gameplay trivia under the presenter, rather than the audience, in close-up. To me, that depresses the presenter and award recipient. Congratulations!

Viewers could see people taking pictures backstage, and Seth Rogen even complained about how uncomfortable he felt about the camera’s position. He won the award for Best Female Actor in a Limited Series with Catherine O’Hara, and faced the camera issue head-on. “Hello. First of all, I would like to say that this camera angle thing is very strange. It’s vulgar, it’s weird, and if you could see my bald spot from half the room, I would I would have filled in there,” he quipped.

At one point, the camera facing the stage flickered and cut to backstage footage showing staff and people in running shoes and street clothes in what appeared to be the venue’s basement. If you blinked you’d miss it, but it happened.

This year’s show also includes arrows to indicate each nominee’s position in the room, and each time the winner and presenter’s name appears and heads to the stage, a quirky “fun fact” is written at the bottom of the screen. It was written. No one cared.

The long walk to the stage was scary and needs to be addressed. Not a single celebrity took the stage elegantly and quickly. The show was longer and more boring than usual, as viewers had to wait for the stars to make their way through the maze.

Another brutal on-camera moment unfolds during a speech by Emilia Perez’s Jacques Audiard, but the Globe can’t blame technology this time. Director Audiard thanked Gascón, the film’s Spanish transgender star, but the camera cut to a shot of Sofia Vergara instead. Vergara is by no means transgender and just happens to be Colombian. Yay!

The mistakes continued. When it was announced that Hiroyuki Sanada had won the award for Best Male Television Actor for Shogun, it was only a matter of time before the cameras switched to Gary Oldman.

This”, Steve Martin of “The Only Murderer in the Building”, Jason Segel of “The Shrinking”, and Martin Short of “The Only Murderer in the Building”. In comparison, “The Bear” doesn’t quite fit into the comedy category. Adding insult to injury, White wasn’t even there to accept the award. Maybe we can sort out the categories before next year’s show.

Zoe Saldana was in the building to gather hardware for her big win, but she refused to leave afterward. “Emilia Pérez” won Best Original Song for “El Mar,” and songwriters Clément Ducol and Camille took to the stage to accept the award. For some strange reason, Saldana seemed to think this was an invitation to steal her back into the spotlight. She stood up and almost ran onto the stage. She ran up the stairs and snatched the prize from someone else’s hands. She flew around the stage and presented awards to songwriters in a very chaotic manner. It looked desperate and sad and definitely gave off an attention-seeking vibe.

The show’s weirdness continued when Vin Diesel took to the stage as a presenter and awkwardly yelled at Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. The two had a very public feud, and the focus on greeting Johnson seemed out of place and too intentional.

Kieran Culkin also had some shaky moments on stage. His acceptance speech for Best Supporting Actor for A Real Pain included an admission that he and his wife had just had tequila shots with Mario Lopez. He followed up that comment by saying that going to see a therapist is “not good.” It’s a tough job. ” How much did he drink from that bottle? There were some bright moments during the night, which were all thanks to Glazer. But nothing made me happier than finally seeing the credits roll, marking the end of the show.
