Victor Davis Hanson Condemns California’s DEI Hiring In Fire Departments, ‘Not Muscularity, Not Experience,’ Just DEI

Victor Davis Hanson on Newsmax on Wednesday criticized the implementation of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) standards in California fire departments’ hiring practices.

Monaka exterior Regarding “Finnerty,” Hanson said these policies prioritize DEI over mandatory firefighting qualifications such as experience and physical readiness. Hanson said hiring workers based on DEI led to a labor shortage in the state.

“DEI Fire Chiefs, 70% of hiring is based on DEI. Not muscle, experience, size, or ability. The main criteria is DEI. So, the only thing that’s different about this is that we’re not in the inner city. This is, as Donald Trump said, I just got back from teaching at Pepperdine. “This is the most elite area in California,” Hanson told Rob Finnerty.

Hanson also said there are widespread failures in California’s natural resource management and emergency preparedness.

“This could have been prevented in the long run. Get all the water out. Ninety percent of the water from northern rivers ends up in the ocean,” Hanson said. “The aqueduct carries that water all the way to L.A. We should have had more water. It’s not. The insurance system is completely broken due to overregulation, fraud, and state mismanagement. Therefore, in most cases, fire You can’t get insurance.”

Hanson said a system failure not only threatens the physical landscape, but also threatens the financial stability of California’s wealthiest communities, potentially resulting in billions of dollars in losses.

“These are the most affluent ZIP codes. And even though these people, and many of them, were uninsured, some of them are insured. And if we don’t rebuild this, we’re going to lose billions of taxpayer dollars and productive citizens,” Hanson said.

Hanson said that to prevent such disasters in the future, we need to return to meritocratic employment and wise state management policies. (Related: Biden drops some juicy personal news as deadly wildfires rage in the streets)

“And if we have meritocratic hiring, if we have abundant water, enough water, if we have a different forest policy, a different fire policy, a different insurance policy. All of this could have been prevented,” Hanson said.

Actor James Woods also criticized the government’s handling of the crisis as wildfires raged through Los Angeles. He specifically targeted Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom, calling him a “big idiot.” Woods said the state’s inadequate fire preparedness and response is the result of Newsom’s repeated mismanagement.
